Life’s a dance…
John Michael Montgomery once said, “Don’t worry about what you don’t know, life’s a dance you learn as you go.” and if you’re anything like me, I enjoy music with meaningful lyrics. I find resonance in certain songs and it helps me get through some of my toughest trials in life.
For those who are still catching up, I’ve had to take a pause on my massage career to take care of my Dad who has been diagnosed with chronic heart and kidney failure for two years now. He’s suffered multiple strokes, a heart attack, cardiac arrest and more. My dad is a dialysis patient and dialyzes three times a week. It’s now become my duty to pick him up from dialysis, take him to doctor’s appointments, prepare his breakfast, lunch and dinners and help him with basic care needs.
I haven’t been at this alone however! Our family is tight knit and we all play our part in the changes that have took place. My mom, who now has become the main breadwinner and handles all the financial obligations. My sister, who helps me with Dad when I become consumed in my motherhood responsibilities. My brothers, who are always near and take care of tasks when we fall short. You see, this is how we learned how to dance; by leaning on each other and making it work.
While my career has been on pause, I have been working behind the scenes on ways I can improve my now closed business, Soul Centered. I am leaving behind the hard work of my first physical location of four years and leaning into the unknown of what can be. It might seem like a sad time from an outsiders point of view, but I am a firm believer in God’s plans, His timing and His will. I know that he has great plans set in store for me and I am just following the promptings as I receive them. Soul Centered may not be anymore, but that just leaves room for new creation, new seeds to plant, and birthing new ideas.
So while it seems like I am starting over, I see it as an opportunity. I am right where I am supposed to be. I am meant to raise my children and take care of my family. Nothing more, nothing less.
“The longer I live, the more I believe
You do have to give if you wanna receive
There's a time to listen, a time to talk
And you might have to crawl even after you walk”
- John Michael Montgomery
